A new story from Kenya!

I have much things to do up here.. everyday is different! Sometimes there's a planning for a day, but most of the time the days are unpredictable! The culture is here the same way, like they Kenyans : Pole Pole, means slowly/easy!

When we went to Nyeri Hill, very nice view from way up high, with the kids.. the van of Upendo broke down! So Jackson have to take it away to a garage and have to pick us up with a Makatu, sort of big taxi! With the other volunteers have we decided that we will pay the costs of the repairing. It was only 10 euros! But it is in their money, really a lot to repair your car!

Yesterday we went to the doctor with patrick, because he was having a fever and was felling down.We didn't went to the general hospital because you have to wait for several hours before you get helped by a doctor. So we wanted to go to a private one. On our way to the doctor, Patrick passed out and didn't woke up!! Really scary, it was like an epileptic reaction... really frightening! So we ran to the private clinic and were the first one to get helped... but the doctor said it isn't epilepsy! But jackson told me that he is getting this very often, so it isn't just the fever i guess? but the doctor wouldnt believe it, so he got some medicine and we hope he gets better!

Jackson have taken us to a real keyean lunch, but it were all the scary parts of a goat.. like his head, tong, stomach and eyes!! So everyone just take a pancake, chappitti its called here.. and left the meat for jackson and his friend! hahahaha! really grose!

white or european people like me, is still very rare up here. So sometimes people can stare at you or call you white people, Bazungu, in their language. Its not a bad word, but you're sometimes reallly interesting becauze they think you are rich or just strange! This is mostly on the streets. If we are at somebodys home, they are really friendly! Thats because we are with jackson and people know that we are not toerist, but volunteers!
One day when we went to by some firewood, people were stairing at us what we were doing. The brother of jackson was telling us that the people were wondering, how can it be that a bazungu knows what firewood is? how funny is that? like we are studpid or something! hahahaha

This week we will be working a lot in the new home for Upendo! Yesterday we have been painting the whole living room with undercoat. really hard work hahaha, no just kidding! its really fun with the other volunteers!

Love to you all

    MacSprout:

    Ugh en How!
